Tai Chi Partner Cane Form

This Lesson Contains:

Movement # 7 – Move the Branch Aside

This is a simple movement. The opponent pokes my belly and I retreat, neutralizing by joining, sticking and leading to my right.

Shift the weight straight back onto the left foot and pull in the right foot to Empty Step on Toe. The torso faces west.

The cane pulls in towards the center. The cane ends up at about a 45-degree angle. The right hand is down by the right hip and the left and touches the left forearm. As the opponent pokes, my cane attaches and then pulls in and a bit to the right to lead him into emptiness. In this case, don’t knock his cane away.

Focus on the cane about halfway down for sticking.
