Matthew Campbell - Contact: firstname.lastname@example.org, 360-490-9033
Passionate about the martial arts from an early age, Matthew sought training wherever available. Beginning formal Taekwondo training while studying architecture at the University of Illinois, Matthew went on to study Okinawan Karate Do in St. Louis prior to entering the US Army Infantry.
Settling in Washington after his term of service, Matthew studied Jidokwan lineage Taekwondo under Master James Arrington in Olympia. Shortly after receiving his Kukkiwon black belt (dan) certification and taking on teaching responsibilities in 2005 Matthew was recalled for service in Anbar Province, Iraq. Upon his return, Matthew continued to teach and explore the martial arts.
Fortunate circumstance brought Matthew into contact with Michael Gilman and the internal arts; during a trip to the far reaches of Maine, Matthew undertook learning the Yang Style Short form from Michael’s Master Course dvd series. With this foundation, Matthew began working directly with Michael and studio classes and seminars whenever possible.
Matthew was formally certified to teach by Michael in 2016. He offers Tai Chi and Taekwondo classes and private lessons at the Shelton Athletic Club near his home in Union WA.
